Zbigniew Janowicz, Ph.D. - Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Janowicz is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rhein Biotech GmbH. Prior to serving as CEO, Dr. Janowicz was the Vice President of Process Development at Berna Biotech Ltd. (Switzerland) and the Vice President of Research and Development at Rhein Biotech NV (The Netherlands). From 1996 to 1999, Dr. Janowicz served as the Director of Research and Development of Curative Technologies’ tissue repair business. Dr. Janowicz co-founded Rhein Biotech GmbH in 1985 and was instrumental in the development of the Company’s Hansenula polymorpha technology platform. In 2006, he was awarded European Inventor of the Year by the European Patent Office for his contribution in the development of an affordable hepatitis B vaccine.

Dr. Janowicz received a Master of Biochemistry and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from University of Poznan, Poland.

 

Dr. Albrecht Läufer – Business Development

Dr. Läufer is responsible for Business Development for Rhein Biotech GmbH and has over 20 years of experience in international management for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. He is also currently the CEO and Co-Founder of Corvay GmbH, a consulting company specializing in the life sciences industry in Germany and internationally. From 2003 to 2008, Dr. Läufer was the CEO and Co-Founder of Vakzine Projekt Management GmbH where he initiated and managed the development of a diversified pipeline of five product candidates. His responsibilities included strain and process development, analytics and trial medication manufacturing, preclinical and clinical testing, and outsourcing other services for product candidates. From 1997 to 2003, Dr. Läufer was a Regional Director at Solvay Pharmaceuticals and was responsible for Asia, Middle East, Australia, and Canada. At Solvay, Dr. Läufer managed over 1,200 people, established subsidiaries in China, India, Turkey, and South Africa, and expanded subsidiaries in the Philippines and Australia. From 1993 to 1996, he served as the CEO for Solvay Enzymes GmbH.

Dr. Läufer earned a Doctorate in Physical Chemistry from Technical University of Braunschweig and a Master in Biochemistry from Tübingen.

 

Roland Weyhenmeyer, Ph.D. – Head of Analytics and Quality Control

Dr. Weyhenmeyer is the Head of Analytics and Quality Control for Rhein Biotech GmbH and also serves as Qualified Person. He has over 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including quality control, development, and regulatory affairs. Since joining Rhein Biotech in 2000, Dr. Weyhenmeyer has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including Head of Analytical Development, Director of Development, and Project Leader for two vaccines. From 1988 to 2000, he worked with Madaus AG as the Director of Experimental Research and Head of Metabolism and Kinetics.

Dr. Weyhenmeyer earned a diploma in chemistry from the University of Stuttgart and a Ph.D. in biological chemistry from the University of Hohenheim.
